C. INDEX IS CORRECT ANSWER
July 26, 2018, 01:53 AM
The answer is C. Index
July 13, 2018, 05:50 PM
Who do we contact to change the answer.
June 27, 2018, 11:45 AM
the answer is C and not D
May 19, 2018, 01:54 AM
Where do they get the answers? Why is Foreign key the answer and not Index?
April 28, 2018, 12:05 AM
The correct answer is C, because the index help to improve the performance in select queries. The Foreign Key is related to an Primary Key in other table and there is not possible for a lot of reason that the salary can't be a primary key an any table
April 15, 2018, 08:36 AM
I agree with all comments
March 25, 2018, 02:33 PM
The answer is C: Indexes are special lookup tables that the database search engine can use to speed up data retrieval. An index is a pointer to a data in a table. An index helps to speed up SELECT queiries and WHERE clauses, but it slows down data input, with the UPDATE and the INSERT statements. Indexes can be unique, in that the index prevents duplicate entries in the column or combination of columns on which there is an index.
November 6, 2017, 01:47 PM
Should be C. Index, there is no mention in the question of it being linked to another table and it doesn't advise what the Foreign Key would be getting used for. In this case I can see no possible benefit of a Foreign Key.
November 1, 2017, 01:58 AM
foreign key?? what?? How is it not an index.
October 23, 2017, 08:01 AM

Do we have concensus then that C is the real correct asnwer? Or do we not understand?
August 22, 2017, 01:53 PM
I think the correct answer is C too...
August 17, 2017, 11:31 AM
index because it has the constraint
August 4, 2017, 06:33 PM
I also believe the correct answer should be C, Index
July 26, 2017, 07:55 AM
Why not adding clustered or non-clustered Index to the column salary?
July 12, 2017, 07:35 PM
A foreign key would actually slow things down due to the need to use a JOIN. Index would be the correct answer.
June 28, 2017, 07:11 AM
the answer should be c. index
June 27, 2017, 09:20 AM
The index is correct answer here
June 14, 2017, 12:57 PM
I do not believe that is the correct answer.
June 7, 2017, 11:06 PM
An index is the correct answer
May 24, 2017, 07:09 PM
Why is it foreign key? I thought index would make the search run faster?
May 18, 2017, 09:51 AM
The right answer is C - Index, what foreign key could be in Salary column?
May 15, 2017, 02:04 PM

July 12, 2017, 08:07 PM
The first one should be "No" right? If you use SQL Server Login, you still need to create a separate SQL Server login, even if you have Windows Authentication. See also: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/security/choose-an-authentication-mode

Question #37

You have two tables named Salesperson and Sales.
You need to ensure that each record in the Sales table has a valid associated salesperson
record in the Salesperson table.
Which database object should you add to the Sales table?

A. Nonclustered index
B. Primary key
C. Foreign key
D. Clustered index

Comments for Question #37 (16)

August 8, 2018, 09:19 PM
C. Foreign key
July 25, 2018, 10:13 PM
A primary key of SalesPerson added to Sales table, so which is considered now foreign key. English is sometime very confused language, If the question is asked regards to Sales table then Foreign key but if question is asked regards to Salesperson table it is primary key.
July 25, 2018, 07:04 PM
Whoever put these practice questions together are confused about Keys
June 9, 2018, 07:56 AM
they both need to have a primary key but the sales table should have a FK pointing towards the PK of the salesperson table
April 17, 2018, 02:39 AM
Most likely the Salesperson table will have a primary key attached to SalespersonID. Why would you not add a foreign key to associate the salesperson to the sales table? I believe the answer should be C
August 31, 2017, 11:41 PM
The answer can't be Primary key, otherwise every entry in Sales would have to have a unique salesperson. Each time a salesperson made a sale, you would have to fire them or delete their sale record!
August 30, 2017, 10:25 AM
I believe the answer should be C (Foreign key). The wording of the two tables suggests a one to many relationship (Salesperson - 1 to n - Sales).
August 15, 2017, 12:38 PM
B is correct, you need to link Sales to salesperson.. Sales gets a Primary key and salesperson gets a foreign key. the question asks which database object should you add to the SALES table so answer B. Primary key that links to the foreign key of salesperson
August 10, 2017, 08:17 PM
For sure, we speak about this code : CREATE TABLE Salesperson ( PersonID int NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, Name VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, FirstName VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL ); CREATE TABLE Sales ( SalesID int NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, Description VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL, SalespersonID int FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES Salesperson(PersonID ) ); The question is not so precise. For me, primary key into "Sales" table is the field "SalesID". So, I would answer C, foreign key.
August 7, 2017, 06:20 PM
it seems like the answer was going to be FK but then, the wording of the question makes it seem like they only want a referral to the other table to make sure that it is there... That is what a PK is, a referral to the other table from one table to another. Am i understanding this correctly???
July 10, 2017, 08:56 PM
It's asking what you need to add to the Sales table to make sure that it has an associated record in the salesperson table. The wording is poor or intentionally misleading, but since we're adding something to the sales table it would indeed be a primary key so that we could then add the foreign key constraint to the Salesperson table
June 28, 2017, 08:50 AM
Why C? Shouldn't it be Foreign Key?
June 26, 2017, 04:50 PM
Foreign key can be null. So answer is PK
June 8, 2017, 10:33 AM
This is incorrect, B (Foreign Key) is the correct answer
May 24, 2017, 11:57 PM
I would answer C. Why is it B?
May 15, 2017, 12:32 PM
Why not C? A foreign key linking to Salesperson.

To help some: Query written in plain english: Select everything from table 'Cars' where the oirigin IS NOT USA and the color IS NOT black

The correct answer is D. 7 rows. Because Where Origin in not USA and Color is not Black.
August 30, 2017, 11:15 AM
The answer is A and not D as some might expect. The sql statement does not check both fields for a true value. Instead it steps through origin and color fields one at a time. If AND was replaced with OR it would return 7 rows.

September 25, 2017, 05:26 PM
Answer is E. As the quantity for id 4589 is bank and is not specified as NULL. So 4 names will be displayed.
August 16, 2017, 03:04 PM
Simple trick is to not think as a human but as a computer a human could consider the 0 as NULL but a computer sees a entry (0) and considers it as not null.
July 26, 2017, 03:38 PM
Either the text or the picture are wrong, as quantity should be nullable in the text or quantity should have a value in the image
May 18, 2017, 01:49 PM
Why E? Integer can't be empty, it is not zero or zero or null, it doesn't matter that word null is absent.

too poor question ...what correct answer should be A or D ?!
March 23, 2018, 03:47 AM
The question is "Which database object.... to store data". The answer should be B.
March 16, 2018, 04:17 AM
I think the question means: which database object should you use to store the data in table if the stored data must be processed at a later time.
September 26, 2017, 10:27 AM
you store data in a table and it can be processed at a later time. You store sql script in a stored procedure not data. Answer is B. Table. Time of processing the data is irrelevant.
September 22, 2017, 07:29 PM
B
September 13, 2017, 03:03 AM
It's B. How a Stored Procedure is a "database object" to begin with?
August 29, 2017, 02:44 PM
The answer is B . D is a bit wrong because it says the data must be Stored to process at a later time meaning that there is a physical copy of the data somewhere. to get a better understanding why D is wrong look at the following doc https://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertutorial/160/sql-server-stored-procedure-tutorial/
August 8, 2017, 08:56 PM
I think this is a poorly written question. Data is not the same as data definition. If they merely meant "data", the answer is B. Something tells me they really meant "data definition" (to create the table at a later time maybe on a different server, in which case the answer would be D.
August 3, 2017, 05:52 PM
My opinion is D
August 3, 2017, 05:09 PM
its the data that needs to be stored, so the answer should be b - table
July 28, 2017, 04:18 AM
I think it's correct D, coz "to process at a later time" in that case the data i'll be uses more than 1 time...
July 28, 2017, 03:28 AM
I believe it is D because the table should a stored procedure to process the data at a later time.

I would say both Join and Intersect would do the job.
August 9, 2017, 06:48 PM
Is this another poorly written question? I can see both points of view mentioned here.
July 26, 2017, 03:57 PM
To add to what has been said, union requires no relation between the tables, only matching field types
July 17, 2017, 09:23 PM
UNION combines rows from two or more tables, where JOIN combines columns from two or more tables. Answer C is correct
June 9, 2017, 02:25 AM
Pretty sure it's C. Union gets the result of two select statements in one, the only requirement is that the two tables have the same number of columns
June 8, 2017, 12:13 PM
Imagine you have 2 databases for employees, 1 for permanent staff and one for temporary staff but you want to see all employees. The relation is that they are all employees and the column that exists is say social security number, you are not linking the tables with each other (a join) you want all the data from both related tables, hence the union.
May 23, 2017, 05:02 PM
"based on a column that exists in both tables" ... isn't it join?
