Microsoft Azure Administrator AZ-104 Practice Test 89

Question 880

A public DNS A record exists in Azure but the Internet still sees records from another provider. What should be checked?

  1. Azure Private DNS zone linked to that VNet
  2. Authoritative DNS delegation at the domain registrar
  3. Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding
  4. The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage

Explanation

Correct Answer

B:

Resolvers follow delegated name servers, not arbitrary duplicate public zones. The relevant situation is that a public DNS A record exists in Azure but the Internet still sees records from another provider. DNS naming and TTL are distinct from load-balancer probes, frontends and backend traffic selection. “Azure Private DNS zone linked to that VNet” does not settle this requirement: Private DNS zones provide internal name resolution within linked networks. “Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding” does not settle this requirement: Zone link or resolver design controls DNS visibility between networks. Verify the record type, cache behavior, frontend address and actual backend health as applicable.

Incorrect Answers

A:

Private DNS zones provide internal name resolution within linked networks. In this case, a public DNS A record exists in Azure but the Internet still sees records from another provider. “Azure Private DNS zone linked to that VNet” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Authoritative DNS delegation at the domain registrar”. Resolvers follow delegated name servers, not arbitrary duplicate public zones.

C:

Zone link or resolver design controls DNS visibility between networks. In this case, a public DNS A record exists in Azure but the Internet still sees records from another provider. “Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Authoritative DNS delegation at the domain registrar”. Resolvers follow delegated name servers, not arbitrary duplicate public zones.

D:

Private endpoint name resolution maps the service hostname to private addresses. In this case, a public DNS A record exists in Azure but the Internet still sees records from another provider. “The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Authoritative DNS delegation at the domain registrar”. Resolvers follow delegated name servers, not arbitrary duplicate public zones.

Question 881

A central Azure Private DNS zone already resolves an internal application name for one virtual network. A second authorized virtual network cannot resolve it, and no public DNS record is permitted. What link must be configured?

  1. Publish the private hostname in public Azure DNS so every Internet resolver can query it
  2. Enable an outbound NAT Gateway on the second VNet without any DNS link
  3. Create a virtual network link from the existing Private DNS zone to the authorized second VNet
  4. Change the DNS records into external CNAMEs without providing private name resolution

Explanation

Correct Answer

C:

Azure Private DNS zones require appropriate virtual network links for the VNets whose clients should resolve the contained private names through that service. Linking the existing zone to the second authorized VNet enables the intended resolution path without exposing the hostname publicly, subject to supported DNS settings. In this scenario, the correct choice is “Create a virtual network link from the existing Private DNS zone to the authorized second VNet”. Validate the DNS, health probe and frontend/backend behavior from a real supported client or request. “Publish the private hostname in public Azure DNS so every Internet resolver can query it” is not equivalent: A public DNS record violates the private-only requirement and may disclose internal hostnames. “Enable an outbound NAT Gateway on the second VNet without any DNS link” is not equivalent: NAT Gateway controls outbound source translation, not whether a VNet is linked to an Azure Private DNS zone.

Incorrect Answers

A:

A public DNS record violates the private-only requirement and may disclose internal hostnames. The competing choice “Publish the private hostname in public Azure DNS so every Internet resolver can query it” does not meet the specific requirement: A central Azure Private DNS zone already resolves an internal application name for one virtual network. A second authorized virtual network cannot resolve it, and no public DNS record is permitted. What link must be configured. The supported action is “Create a virtual network link from the existing Private DNS zone to the authorized second VNet”.

B:

NAT Gateway controls outbound source translation, not whether a VNet is linked to an Azure Private DNS zone. The competing choice “Enable an outbound NAT Gateway on the second VNet without any DNS link” does not meet the specific requirement: A central Azure Private DNS zone already resolves an internal application name for one virtual network. A second authorized virtual network cannot resolve it, and no public DNS record is permitted. What link must be configured. The supported action is “Create a virtual network link from the existing Private DNS zone to the authorized second VNet”.

D:

Changing to an externally resolved alias does not create the missing Private DNS zone link for the second VNet. The competing choice “Change the DNS records into external CNAMEs without providing private name resolution” does not meet the specific requirement: A central Azure Private DNS zone already resolves an internal application name for one virtual network. A second authorized virtual network cannot resolve it, and no public DNS record is permitted. What link must be configured. The supported action is “Create a virtual network link from the existing Private DNS zone to the authorized second VNet”.

Question 882

A new spoke VNet cannot resolve records from the private zone used by the hub. What should be configured?

  1. The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage
  2. Depend on correct private DNS mapping for the official service hostname
  3. Update the registrar delegation to the Azure DNS zone's authoritative name servers
  4. Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding

Explanation

Correct Answer

D:

Zone link or resolver design controls DNS visibility between networks. The relevant situation is that a new spoke VNet cannot resolve records from the private zone used by the hub. DNS naming and TTL are distinct from load-balancer probes, frontends and backend traffic selection. “The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage” does not settle this requirement: Private endpoint name resolution maps the service hostname to private addresses. “Depend on correct private DNS mapping for the official service hostname” does not settle this requirement: Private Link endpoints can change during maintenance and are designed for DNS-based access. Verify the record type, cache behavior, frontend address and actual backend health as applicable.

Incorrect Answers

A:

Private endpoint name resolution maps the service hostname to private addresses. In this case, a new spoke VNet cannot resolve records from the private zone used by the hub. “The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding”. Zone link or resolver design controls DNS visibility between networks.

B:

Private Link endpoints can change during maintenance and are designed for DNS-based access. In this case, a new spoke VNet cannot resolve records from the private zone used by the hub. “Depend on correct private DNS mapping for the official service hostname” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding”. Zone link or resolver design controls DNS visibility between networks.

C:

Creating an Azure public zone alone does not transfer Internet DNS authority. In this case, a new spoke VNet cannot resolve records from the private zone used by the hub. “Update the registrar delegation to the Azure DNS zone's authoritative name servers” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding”. Zone link or resolver design controls DNS visibility between networks.

Question 883

A workload uses a private endpoint for Key Vault and DNS resolves it publicly. What zone type helps?

  1. The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage
  2. Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding
  3. A DNS A record
  4. Create an A record for IPv4 rather than AAAA

Explanation

Correct Answer

A:

Private endpoint name resolution maps the service hostname to private addresses. The relevant situation is that a workload uses a private endpoint for Key Vault and DNS resolves it publicly. DNS naming and TTL are distinct from load-balancer probes, frontends and backend traffic selection. “Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding” does not settle this requirement: Zone link or resolver design controls DNS visibility between networks. “A DNS A record” does not settle this requirement: A records map hostnames to IPv4 addresses. Verify the record type, cache behavior, frontend address and actual backend health as applicable.

Incorrect Answers

B:

Zone link or resolver design controls DNS visibility between networks. In this case, a workload uses a private endpoint for Key Vault and DNS resolves it publicly. “Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage”. Private endpoint name resolution maps the service hostname to private addresses.

C:

A records map hostnames to IPv4 addresses. In this case, a workload uses a private endpoint for Key Vault and DNS resolves it publicly. “A DNS A record” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage”. Private endpoint name resolution maps the service hostname to private addresses.

D:

AAAA records are for IPv6 addresses. In this case, a workload uses a private endpoint for Key Vault and DNS resolves it publicly. “Create an A record for IPv4 rather than AAAA” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage”. Private endpoint name resolution maps the service hostname to private addresses.

Question 884

A developer hardcodes the private endpoint IP instead of its service hostname. What is fragile?

  1. Azure Private DNS zone linked to that VNet
  2. Depend on correct private DNS mapping for the official service hostname
  3. Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding
  4. A DNS A record

Explanation

Correct Answer

B:

Private Link endpoints can change during maintenance and are designed for DNS-based access. The relevant situation is that a developer hardcodes the private endpoint IP instead of its service hostname.

In this case, a developer hardcodes the private endpoint IP instead of its service hostname. “Azure Private DNS zone linked to that VNet” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Depend on correct private DNS mapping for the official service hostname”. Private Link endpoints can change during maintenance and are designed for DNS-based access.

C:

Zone link or resolver design controls DNS visibility between networks. In this case, a developer hardcodes the private endpoint IP instead of its service hostname. “Link the private DNS zone to the spoke or provide supported resolver forwarding” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Depend on correct private DNS mapping for the official service hostname”. Private Link endpoints can change during maintenance and are designed for DNS-based access.

D:

A records map hostnames to IPv4 addresses. In this case, a developer hardcodes the private endpoint IP instead of its service hostname. “A DNS A record” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Depend on correct private DNS mapping for the official service hostname”. Private Link endpoints can change during maintenance and are designed for DNS-based access.

Question 885

A client needs to map api.example.com to an IPv4 public frontend IP. What record type should be created?

  1. An AAAA record pointing to the IPv6 address
  2. The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage
  3. A DNS A record
  4. Depend on correct private DNS mapping for the official service hostname

Explanation

Correct Answer

C:

A records map hostnames to IPv4 addresses. The relevant situation is that a client needs to map api.example.com to an IPv4 public frontend IP. DNS naming and TTL are distinct from load-balancer probes, frontends and backend traffic selection. “An AAAA record pointing to the IPv6 address” does not settle this requirement: AAAA records are the standard DNS resource record for IPv6. “The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage” does not settle this requirement: Private endpoint name resolution maps the service hostname to private addresses. Verify the record type, cache behavior, frontend address and actual backend health as applicable.

Incorrect Answers

A:

AAAA records are the standard DNS resource record for IPv6. In this case, a client needs to map api.example.com to an IPv4 public frontend IP. “An AAAA record pointing to the IPv6 address” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “A DNS A record”. A records map hostnames to IPv4 addresses.

B:

Private endpoint name resolution maps the service hostname to private addresses. In this case, a client needs to map api.example.com to an IPv4 public frontend IP. “The appropriate privatelink private DNS zone with VNet linkage” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “A DNS A record”. A records map hostnames to IPv4 addresses.

D:

Private Link endpoints can change during maintenance and are designed for DNS-based access. In this case, a client needs to map api.example.com to an IPv4 public frontend IP. “Depend on correct private DNS mapping for the official service hostname” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “A DNS A record”. A records map hostnames to IPv4 addresses.

Question 886

A team creates an AAAA record containing an IPv4 address and validation fails. What should be used?

  1. An AAAA record pointing to the IPv6 address
  2. Another DNS hostname rather than a literal IP address
  3. Depend on correct private DNS mapping for the official service hostname
  4. Create an A record for IPv4 rather than AAAA

Explanation

Correct Answer

D:

AAAA records are for IPv6 addresses. The relevant situation is that a team creates an AAAA record containing an IPv4 address and validation fails. DNS naming and TTL are distinct from load-balancer probes, frontends and backend traffic selection. “An AAAA record pointing to the IPv6 address” does not settle this requirement: AAAA records are the standard DNS resource record for IPv6. “Another DNS hostname rather than a literal IP address” does not settle this requirement: CNAME is a name-to-name alias record. Verify the record type, cache behavior, frontend address and actual backend health as applicable.

Incorrect Answers

A:

AAAA records are the standard DNS resource record for IPv6. In this case, a team creates an AAAA record containing an IPv4 address and validation fails. “An AAAA record pointing to the IPv6 address” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Create an A record for IPv4 rather than AAAA”. AAAA records are for IPv6 addresses.

B:

CNAME is a name-to-name alias record. In this case, a team creates an AAAA record containing an IPv4 address and validation fails. “Another DNS hostname rather than a literal IP address” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Create an A record for IPv4 rather than AAAA”. AAAA records are for IPv6 addresses.

C:

Private Link endpoints can change during maintenance and are designed for DNS-based access. In this case, a team creates an AAAA record containing an IPv4 address and validation fails. “Depend on correct private DNS mapping for the official service hostname” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Create an A record for IPv4 rather than AAAA”. AAAA records are for IPv6 addresses.

Question 887

An administrator is preparing a planned cutover of an IPv6-backed service to a new endpoint. Clients may have cached the existing AAAA record for hours. Which DNS preparation most directly reduces cache-related delay during the cutover?

  1. Lower the applicable AAAA record TTL sufficiently before the cutover so caches can expire under the old policy
  2. Create an A record containing the new IPv6 address
  3. Reduce the authoritative AAAA TTL only at the cutover instant, after clients cached its earlier multi-hour value
  4. Change the AAAA answer at cutover and assume all recursive caches immediately discard their stored old result

Explanation

Correct Answer

A:

A DNS time to live controls how long resolvers may cache an answer. Lowering the TTL in advance of a planned IPv6 endpoint change reduces the period during which clients continue using the old AAAA record after the switch. The reduction must be applied early enough for previously cached longer TTLs to expire. The relevant situation is that an administrator is preparing a planned cutover of an IPv6-backed service to a new endpoint. Clients may have cached the existing AAAA record for hours. DNS naming and TTL are distinct from load-balancer probes, frontends and backend traffic selection. “Create an A record containing the new IPv6 address” does not settle this requirement: A records are used for IPv4, not an IPv6 address. The record type cannot solve an existing AAAA cache timing concern. Verify the record type, cache behavior, frontend address and actual backend health as applicable.

Incorrect Answers

B:

A records are used for IPv4, not an IPv6 address. The record type cannot solve an existing AAAA cache timing concern. In this case, an administrator is preparing a planned cutover of an IPv6-backed service to a new endpoint. Clients may have cached the existing AAAA record for hours. “Create an A record containing the new IPv6 address” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Lower the applicable AAAA record TTL sufficiently before the cutover so caches can expire under the old policy”.

C:

Previously cached longer TTLs can persist after the authoritative record changes; DNS cache preparation must happen ahead of the cutover. In this case, an administrator is preparing a planned cutover of an IPv6-backed service to a new endpoint. Clients may have cached the existing AAAA record for hours. “Reduce the authoritative AAAA TTL only at the cutover instant, after clients cached its earlier multi-hour value” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Lower the applicable AAAA record TTL sufficiently before the cutover so caches can expire under the old policy”.

D:

Previously cached longer TTLs can persist after the authoritative record changes; DNS cache preparation must happen ahead of the cutover. In this case, an administrator is preparing a planned cutover of an IPv6-backed service to a new endpoint. Clients may have cached the existing AAAA record for hours. “Change the AAAA answer at cutover and assume all recursive caches immediately discard their stored old result” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Lower the applicable AAAA record TTL sufficiently before the cutover so caches can expire under the old policy”.

Question 888

A DNS operator adds an A record for an IPv6-only service. What is wrong?

  1. Create an A record for IPv4 rather than AAAA
  2. Use an AAAA record for the IPv6 service address
  3. A DNS A record
  4. Another DNS hostname rather than a literal IP address

Explanation

Correct Answer

B:

A record syntax represents IPv4 only. The relevant situation is that a DNS operator adds an A record for an IPv6-only service. DNS naming and TTL are distinct from load-balancer probes, frontends and backend traffic selection. “Create an A record for IPv4 rather than AAAA” does not settle this requirement: AAAA records are for IPv6 addresses. “A DNS A record” does not settle this requirement: A records map hostnames to IPv4 addresses. Verify the record type, cache behavior, frontend address and actual backend health as applicable.

Incorrect Answers

A:

AAAA records are for IPv6 addresses. In this case, a DNS operator adds an A record for an IPv6-only service. “Create an A record for IPv4 rather than AAAA” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Use an AAAA record for the IPv6 service address”. A record syntax represents IPv4 only.

C:

A records map hostnames to IPv4 addresses. In this case, a DNS operator adds an A record for an IPv6-only service. “A DNS A record” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Use an AAAA record for the IPv6 service address”. A record syntax represents IPv4 only.

D:

CNAME is a name-to-name alias record. In this case, a DNS operator adds an A record for an IPv6-only service. “Another DNS hostname rather than a literal IP address” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “Use an AAAA record for the IPv6 service address”. A record syntax represents IPv4 only.

Question 889

A public alias should follow a vendor's hostname changes without pinning an IP. Which record fits?

  1. An AAAA record pointing to the IPv6 address
  2. Use an internal load balancer frontend where client topology permits
  3. A CNAME alias to the vendor hostname where supported
  4. An internal Azure Load Balancer with a private frontend IP

Explanation

Correct Answer

C:

A CNAME maps an alias to another hostname. The relevant situation is that a public alias should follow a vendor's hostname changes without pinning an IP. DNS naming and TTL are distinct from load-balancer probes, frontends and backend traffic selection. “An AAAA record pointing to the IPv6 address” does not settle this requirement: AAAA records are the standard DNS resource record for IPv6. “Use an internal load balancer frontend where client topology permits” does not settle this requirement: An internal frontend limits direct exposure to reachable private networks. Verify the record type, cache behavior, frontend address and actual backend health as applicable.

Incorrect Answers

A:

AAAA records are the standard DNS resource record for IPv6. In this case, a public alias should follow a vendor's hostname changes without pinning an IP. “An AAAA record pointing to the IPv6 address” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “A CNAME alias to the vendor hostname where supported”. A CNAME maps an alias to another hostname.

B:

An internal frontend limits direct exposure to reachable private networks. In this case, a public alias should follow a vendor's hostname changes without pinning an IP. “Use an internal load balancer frontend where client topology permits” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “A CNAME alias to the vendor hostname where supported”. A CNAME maps an alias to another hostname.

D:

Internal load balancers present private, not Internet-routable, frontends. In this case, a public alias should follow a vendor's hostname changes without pinning an IP. “An internal Azure Load Balancer with a private frontend IP” would not satisfy that requirement; the supported action is “A CNAME alias to the vendor hostname where supported”. A CNAME maps an alias to another hostname.

Question 890

An admin expects a CNAME to contain the target's raw IPv4 address. What should it contain?

  1. An AAAA record pointing to the IPv6 address
  2. An internal Azure Load Balancer with a private frontend IP
  3. Use an internal load balancer frontend where client topology permits
  4. Another DNS hostname rather than a literal IP address

Explanation

Correct Answer

D:

CNAME is a name-to-name alias record. The relevant situation is that an admin expects a CNAME to contain the target's raw IPv4 address. DNS naming and TTL are distinct from load-balancer probes, frontends and backend traffic selection. “An AAAA record pointing to the IPv6 address” does not settle this requirement: AAAA records are the standard DNS resource record for IPv6. “An internal Azure Load Balancer with a private frontend IP” does not settle this requirement: Internal load balancers present private, not Internet-routable, frontends. Verify the record type, cache behavior, frontend address and actual backend health as applicable.
