If someone is tailgating how exactly will a mantrap help? wouldn't CCTV be more of a safety procedure to identify the tailgater?

A man trap is usually a set of double doors and a guard between them. The guard checks credentials . Therefore having someone checking id before entering the building would prevent tailgating more than just filming it happening.

Mantraps can also be made in a way like a subway entrance, where only one person can enter at a time because the turnstile only rotates just enough.

CCTV is great for reviewing the incident after the fact but does so very little to prevent it from happening. I would hope a person is aware enough of their surroundings to notice another person is standing in a small room right behind them. I Man-Trap doesn't necessarily need to have a guard, it only needs to have a process in place to prevent the second door from opening unit the first door closes. This can also be combined with other processes such as a bio-scanner that would require a person's bio-metrics to be authenticated prior to opening the second door once the first door has completely closed.
